There are a number of different membership options. All members obtain free online access to Animal Behaviour, including the complete journal archive via the publisher's website.

Ordinary members are members in part-time or full-time employment. Unwaged/Student members include retired members, unemployed members, and both under-graduate and post-graduate students.

ASAB accepts applications for membership from across the world, with the exception of the Americas. Instead, we would like to cordially invite animal behaviour researchers from the Americas to join our sister society, the Animal Behavior Society.

The Membership Secretary for ASAB is currently Prof. Anna Wilkinson (membership@asab.org). Please direct all membership enquiries to the Membership Secretary, including issues with access to Animal Behaviour. Please note, when applying for membership we ask that you pay the first year's subscription on application. Membership runs from 1st January - 31st December. Members who join part-way through the year and choose the hard copy of the journal, will receive the entire year's run of the journal.

To join ASAB, prospective members will need the support of a current member of ASAB. You will be asked to provide the name and email address of your supporting member when you choose a membership level below, and you should also email the supporting member, asking them to email their support to the ASAB Membership Secretary. Your application will not sent to the next meeting of ASAB Council for formal approval until your supporting member confirms their support for your application to the Membership Secretary. If you do not have the support of a current member of ASAB, you must write to the Membership Secretary detailing why you wish to join the society and include a C.V.

Diversity Statement: ASAB is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community, and aims to ensure fair and equitable representation and participation throughout all of ASAB’s activities and in the wider animal behaviour research community, irrespective of characteristics including but not limited to age, disability, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality.

Payment Instructions: Online payment is via PayPal. You can pay either via an existing PayPal account, or you can choose to pay using a credit or debit card and using the "check-out as guest" capability (which is below the invitation to log-on to your PayPal account). You can choose not to register with PayPal when agreeing payment, or you can choose to register with them if you wish. We have no preference for whichever option you choose. If there are payment problems, please contact the Membership Secretary.

Membership Fee Waiver: ASAB appreciates that not everyone who would like to be a member is able to pay membership fees. Reasons might include (but are not limited to) the costs of international bank transfer, individual circumstances, or international sanctions. If you would like to apply for a fee waiver, then please contact our membership secretary Prof. Anna Wilkinson (membership@asab.org)

Please choose a membership level below, we may require proof of unwaged or student status before finalising your application.
